Common questions
Quick answers for SOS Flash users. SOS Flash does not replace contacting emergency services. Whenever you can, call your local emergency number.
How do I start SOS?
Press and hold the red SOS button for 2 seconds. The circle fills while you hold, and the phone vibrates briefly when SOS starts. Releasing early cancels, which prevents accidental starts.
How do I stop it?
Press STOP. The flashlight turns off immediately.
Why did SOS stop when I locked my phone?
SOS only runs while the app is open on screen. Locking the phone or switching to another app stops it, so the flashlight is never left on by accident. The screen stays awake on its own while SOS is active, so you don't need to touch the phone.
Does it need internet or a cell signal?
No. SOS Flash works completely offline.
The app says “This device has no flashlight”
Your device doesn't have a flashlight the app can control, for example some iPads.
The app says “The flashlight stopped working”
The flashlight can become temporarily unavailable when another app (such as the Camera) is using it, or when the phone is too hot. Close other camera apps, let the phone cool down, and try again.
The flashlight doesn't turn on
Check that the flashlight works from Control Center. If it does there but not in SOS Flash, fully close SOS Flash and reopen it.
Does the app require an account or any permissions?
No. There's no sign-up or login, no data is collected, and the app doesn't ask for camera permission. It only switches the flashlight on and off.
