Help for tracking rental property receipts, fixed expenses, mileage, units, and reports.

Common questions

Quick answers for Landlord Ledger users.

Is my data stored in the cloud?

No. Receipts, properties, rental units, fixed expenses, mileage trips, notes, categories, and reports are stored locally on your device unless you choose to export, back up, or share a file.

How do I add a rental property?

Open the Properties tab, add a property, then use the property detail screen to add rental units, fixed expenses, linked receipts, and mileage trips.

Where should I enter insurance, school tax, or municipal tax?

Enter recurring property costs as Fixed Expenses inside the related property. Receipt categories are for variable receipt expenses such as repairs, supplies, utilities, cleaning, and advertising.

Can fixed expenses have start and end dates?

Yes. Fixed expenses include a start date and an optional end date. Dashboard totals use the selected date range and only count active months that overlap that range.

How do I track mileage?

Use the Trips tab to add business mileage with date, purpose, origin, destination, distance, rate, and property. You can also link receipts to trips.

How are exported reports organized?

CSV reports are ordered by rental property first, then by date. Reports include receipt date, captured date, merchant, amount, category, rental property, business trip, and notes.

What date ranges are available in reports?

The dashboard and report export support This Month, Last Month, This Year, and Custom date ranges.

How do I back up my data?

Use the backup option in Settings to create a backup file. Store it in Files, iCloud Drive, or another location you choose.
